Use this link to e-mail all Open Source Grantees on the LSTech Mailing List

Welcome to the Open Source Template Project Portal. This sub-site is designed to serve as a communication vehicle and project management tool for all LSC Statewide Web Site TIG Grantees using Kaivo's Open Source template.

Recent Changes: Come look through the new OST Help Center, a place for OST site administrators to share ideas and learn from each other. The Help Center will replace the Shared Stuff information on this site.

Click here to view the core Open Source template. This version is "generic" and will be customized to match each grantees' particular requirements regarding look & feel, navigation and functionality.

Click here for a compressed ("tarred") copy of the OST and a list of system requirements.

Although all OST sites begin with the same components, each site customizes them to some degree. Here are some great examples of how each component can be used and customized.

Related Sites
The following sites are based on the same Zope Content Management system used in the Open Source template, and serve as a good example of the functionality available in the template components.

National Legal Aid and Defender Association
The NLADA site is a full-featured, content-rich web resource providing a wealth of information on Civil and Defender issues, and specialized content for Members. Template components in use on the site include an Events Calendar, Jobs Database, Document Library, Links Library, and News from the Field.

Management Information Exchange
The MIE site was recently converted from Front Page to the Zope platform, and enhanced with the addition of an electronic document library (available only to subscribers) and a Training Calendar.

Center for Law and Social Policy
The CLASP site was redesigned as part of the NLADA site redesign last year, and recently formally converted to the Zope-based architecture.

The Project for the Future of Equal Justice
The Equal Justice Network site was "folded" into the NLADA and CLASP sites. It is notable now for the manner in which it launches into shared content that is maintained in one place, but shared between those two separate sites.

Kentucky-Tennessee Water Environment Association
The KYTN-Water site is currently under development.

Other Resources

The following resources provide information and support on various LSC TIG projects, including the Statewide Web Site projects.

The National Technology Assistance Program (NTAP) is a project funded by the Legal Services Corporation through the Legal Aid Society of Orange County. NTAP's mission is to provide technology and management assistance to legal services program, particularly TIG recipients, who are in the process of implementing a technology initiative that benefits clients. NTAP has a consortium of 13 technology and management experts that can provide assistance to programs for free on specific technology issues. For more information on NTAP, contact:

Gabrielle Hammond, NTAP Project Director
Phone: (310) 319-2084 (Mon - Fri 8:30 a - 8:30 p EST)

LSTech.org is an on-line portal providing technology assistance for the poverty law community. Use it to find a variety of other on-line resources and organizations with information about the Statewide Web Site grant projects. The site is maintained by Steve Gray, a very knowledgeable chap on all the technology-related goings-on in the legal services community.
